The Palo Verde National Park is one of the best wildlife and bird watching destinations in Costa Rica.
Experience the spectacular wetlands and remarkable biodiversity of a tropical dry forest. This dual nature is the result of the river Tempisque flooding over land located in an arid climate region. Dry forests receive less than 2 meters of rainfall per year. They are rare and highly endangered. In fact, dry forests are the most threatened of the major tropical forest types (more than rain forests).
Recommended for those who love spotting wildlife and birdlife. Palo Verde is comprised of dry forest, wetlands and mangrove swamps, which form a unique ecosystem home to 55 aquatic plants, 150 species of trees, crocodiles, white face monkeys, iguanas, parrots and other exotic birds.
The Palo Verde Tour carries you through one of the largest concentrations of waterfowl in Central America. The boat ride will help you explore this amazing habitat and have a close encounter with wild animals in their natural environment!
After the tour, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch at a nearby restaurant. We’ll round off the adventure with a short tour to learn about how local pottery is made in neighboring villages.
